Abstract
804,710. Carburetters. DAIMLER-BENZ, A. G. April 30, 1957 '[April 30, 1956], No. 13760/57. Class 7(3) In a carburetter in which each passage 2, 3 has its own fuel feed device and the second throttle valve 7 does not open until the first throttle valve 5 has partially opened, a pin 11 on a lever 12 which operates the second throttle valve, projecting into the path of angularly spaced arms 15, 16 on the operating lever of the first throttle valve, a tension spring 17 is articulatedly connected between the operating levers of the two throttle valves the arrangement being such that the line of tension of the spring approaches the centre of rotation of each of the operating levers as the latter are turned in sequence for opening the respective throttle valves whereby the spring is operative with a decreasing effective leverage on the second throttle valve as the latter opens. The throttle valve 5 opens the passage 2 until after traversing the angle 19 the striker arm 15 encounters the pin 11 so that on further movement the throttle valve 7 is opened. Only in the event of breakage of the spring does the arm 16 bring the throttle 7 into closed position. The arrangement of the spring 17 is such that the torque applied to the shaft 6 of the throttle 7 is substantially constant over the entireopening movement of the throttle 7. This is advantageous particularly when controlling a plurality of carburetters.
