803,899. Stripping cables. SOUTHERN UNITED TELEPHONE CABLES, Ltd. Aug. 15, 1957 [Aug. 16, 1956], No. 25105/56. Drawings to Specification. Class 36. A plastic covering is stripped from a conductor by passing the covered conductor continuously through a device, such as a pair of pressure rolls, which crushes and flattens the covering so that it is completely or substantially split into two parts which fall away from or are easily separated from the conductor. The separation may be effected by taking up either the two parts of the covering or the conductor or both on a driven spool or spools. Where only the conductor is taken up, the parts of the covering may be removed by a suction device. The conductor may be heated before or during its passage through the rolls.
