Abstract

The invention comprises dyes of the formula <FORM:0803473/IV (c)/1> wherein R1 is alkyl, hydroxyalkyl or aralkyl, R2 is alkyl, cycloalkyl, aralkyl or aryl, Y is hydrogen or sulpho and X is a bridging group (e.g. phenylene), which may be substituted, provided that the dyestuff molecule contains not more than two sulpho groups. They are made by roasting cyanuric chloride with, in either order, equimolecular proportions of an anthraquinone derivative of the formula <FORM:0803473/IV (c)/2> and a hydroxy compound of the formula R2OH. The reaction is preferably carried out in presence of an acid-binding agent, and buffers giving a pH between 5 and 8 may be added during isolation of the dye or to the dyestuff pastes or powders. The products dye wool reddish-blue to greenish-blue shades. In examples: (1) 2,4-dichloro-6-methoxy-s-triazine is reacted with (a) the disodium salt of 1-amino-4 - (41 - methylaminoanilino) anthraquinone-2,31 - disulphonic acid; (b) the sodium salt of 1 - amino - 4 - (41 - methylamino) anilinoanthraquinone - 2 - sulphonic acid; (c) the disodium salt of 1-amino-4-(31-b -hydroxyethylamino) - anilinoanthraquinone - 2 : 5 - disulphonic acid; (2) 2,4 - dichloro - 6 - phenoxy-s-triazine is reacted with the disodium salt of 1-amino - 4 - (41 - n - butylamino) anilinoanthraquinone-2,31-disulphonic acid. Compounds of formula R2-OH which are listed are methanol, ethanol, the propanols, the butanols, cyclohexanol, benzyl alcohol, phenol, and the cresols. The bridging group X may be -C6H4-C6H4-or -C6H4-NH-C6H4- and may contain sulpho, alkyl, alkoxy or halogen atoms. Specification 467,815, [Group IV], is referred to.
