Abstract

802,579. Anti-vibration mountings; dashpots. ROE & CO., Ltd., A. V. Sept. 11, 1956 [Sept. 19,1955], No. 26701/55. Class 108(3) In an anti-vibration instrument mounting adapted for transmitting rotational motion, while damping out vibration in one or more linear directions or vice versa, the object 1 to be mounted is supported by hydraulic dashpots 3-6, which are interconnected in pairs, so that fluid is transmitted from one to another for damping unwanted vibrations, whereas damping of the motion intended to be transmitted, is opposed. As shown, the object 1 is mounted by the dashpots 3-6 in a frame 11 which is itself mounted by further similar dashpots 13-16 in a frame 12. The dashpots 3 and 6 are connected by a pipe 17 and the dashpots 4 and 5 are connected by a similar pipe 18. The dashpots 14,15 are connected by a pipe (not shown), and the dashpots 13 and 16 are similarly connected. In an alternative arrangement, the dashpots 3 and 5 are connected and the dashpots 4 and 6 are connected. The connecting pipe may embody variable constrictions. Each dashpot is constructed as shown in Fig. 2, comprising a fixed part 9 filled with oil and having a diaphragm 7. The invention is applicable to the mounting of a rotary accelerometer.
