Abstract

801,861. Retractive switches; actuation of switches; cases; handles. MINNEAPOLISHONEYWELL REGULATOR CO. July 6, 1956 [July 18, 1955], No. 21036/56. Class 38 (5). A snap-switch unit 10, operated by a plunger 19, is hermetically sealed in a drawn sheet-metal housing 15 by means of a resilient cup 26 of, for example, silicone rubber, compressed between the rim of the housing and a boss 20 on the switch, and having moulded therein a metal insert 27 with a downward projection 27a received in a recess in the plunger 19. The space between the switch and housing is filled with epoxy resin 30 which is kept away from the plunger by the cup 26, the space between the parts of the switch case being sealed to prevent ingress of the unsolidified resin into the switch. In Fig. 3, the cup comprises a flat diaphragm-part 126a moulded to the housing, and a skirt part 126b, which can flex the accommodate discrepancies in assembling.
