Abstract

820,285. Mechanical switches, without quick action; press - button retractive switches. WIPAC DEVELOPMENT Ltd. Aug. 8, 1957 [Aug. 14, 1956], No. 24885/56. Class 38 (5). A die-cast metal base 10 having a pressed metal cover 34 is secured on a handle-bar 11 of a motor- or pedal-cycle by means of a screw 13 which also serves to retain the cover 34 in position. Rubber grommets 22 prevent the entry of water. Within the base 10 is mounted an annular insulating disc 14 carrying spring blades 16 and 18 and three pillars 19, 20, and 21. Push-buttons 23, 24 are mounted in slots in the base 10 and connect blades 16 and 18 to the handle-bar 11 when respectively depressed. A knob 27 slidable in a slot in cover 34 carries a phosphor bronze strip 29 urged by spring 30 to make contact between pillars 20, 21, as shown, or between pillars 20, 19 when the knob 27 is moved upward. Connecting leads (not shown) emerge from part of grommet 22 which is shaped to fit an aperture in cover 34.
