Abstract

Compounds of the formula <FORM:0801392/IV (a)/1> are used as vulcanization accelerators for rubbers, with or without the usual adjuvants such as fillers, antioxidants and pigments, e.g. zinc oxide, furnace black and stearic acid. The rubber may be natural or a synthetic polymer of butadiene, isobutene or 2-chlorobutadiene, or a copolymer of these with acrylonitrile, styrene or methyl methacrylate.ALSO:Sulphenamides of the formula <FORM:0801392/IV (b)/1> are made by reacting benzthiazole-2-sulphenamide with a t-octylamine, preferably using excess of the latter. An example is given of the reaction between benzthiazole-2-sulphenamide and 1 : 1 : 3 : 3-tetramethylbutylamine.
