Abstract

Natural or synthetic rubbers are vulcanized by heating with sulphur or a sulphur-bearing substance and a thiocarbamyldithiophosphate of formula <FORM:0893503/IV (a)/1> where R, R1 and R11 are alkyl or cycloalkyl groups or R1 and R11 may be aryl or <FORM:0893503/IV (a)/2> may be a heterocyclic group. It is preferred that R, R1 and R11 each stand for alkyl groups containing not more than 4 carbon atoms -diisopropyl(diethylthiocarbamyl)-dithiophosphate being specified. Specified synthetic rubbers are polymers of butadiene, isoprene and 2-chlorobutadiene and their copolymers with isobutylene, acrylonitrile, styrene and methyl methacrylate. The usual compounding agent and vulcanization materials may be present.
