Abstract
801,010. Sausage, linking. CROSS, L. P. Oct. 31, 1956, No. 33195/56. Class 28 (2). The end of a filled sausage 21 is pushed into a feed tube 22, Fig. 8, whereby a flap 24 is pushed up to close a starting switch 36 whereupon the endless conveyers 41, 42 draw the sausage through and neck it by spaced indenters 63. The sausage then passes into a rotating twisting and distributing tube which twists the necks and feeds the length to the inner periphery of a horizontal receiving cylinder 19, Fig. 2, which rotates and also moves slowly to the right whereby the sausage coils are laid evenly on the inner periphery. When the trailing end of the sausage 21 passes through the necking devices the control flap 24 drops to open switch 36, de-energizing relay A (both on Fig. 16, not shown) and admitting compressed air to the cylinder to move the carriage 20 containing the cylinder 19 towards a turret 13 carrying a collecting-rod 14 on which the sausage coils drop being now free of rotating centrifugal force. The receiving cylinder 19 now moves back to the left, and the turret 13 is rotated to bring the next collecting-rod 14 into position and to reset the mechanism for the next sausage length.
