Abstract
800,468. Magnetic information storage apparatus. MULLARD RADIO VALVE CO., Ltd. Aug. 30, 1956, No. 26592/56. Class 40 (9) A magnetic information storage matrix is assembled in a jig which comprises a number of interchangeable elements of square crosssection held in juxtaposed relationship, one end of each element being formed with one or more core recesses and co-ordinate wire-guiding grooves so as to constitute a portion of the operative face of the jig. Each element 1, Figs. 1 and 2, may have a single cora recess 2 and wire-guiding grooves 3, the assembled elements being held by clamps 4 and arranged in the alternative positions shown according to the core pattern required. Alternatively, a smaller structure is obtained by forming four core recesses 16 and wire-guiding grooves 17, 18 in each element as shown in Figs. 3 and 4, each recess being of the same depth as a core. The elements may be formed by casting in type metal. The cores may be positioned by suction as described in Specification 777,676, in which case complementary halves of each core recess and its vacuum duct may be formed in adjacent elements.
