A tool for use in blind riveting comprises a body portion containing means arranged to provide a rivet setting force, means mounted on the body portion for determining the orientation of the mandrel of a blind riveting assembly with respect to said body portion and mechanism whereby the angular relationship between said body portion and said determining means can be adjusted and locked in position. The tool has a nose piece 38 one end of which constitutes an abutment 40. A mandrel engaging unit 46 movable in the nosepiece provides the setting force as disclosed in Specification 793,365. The mechanism for adjusting the angular relationship between the nosepiece and the body portion 2 comprises a stationary housing 8 and a rotatable housing 16 mounted thereon the nosepiece being carried by the rotatable housing 16. A rack member 6 projects from the body portion and engages a gear 26 (Fig. 2) mounted within the housings 8 and 16. A second rack member 32 attached to the mandrel-engaging unit 46 also engages the gear at a diametrically opposite but transversely offset position. An indexing and locking pin 36 engages holes 34 in the housing 8 and prevents relative movement of the housings. On loosening the nut 20 and withdrawing the housing 16 until the rack member 32 is disengaged from the gear 26 the housing and nose piece can be orientated as desired and relocked in the adjusted position.
