Abstract
799,106. Valves. MALERME, P. E. Dec. 16, 1954 [Jan. 19, 1954], No. 36451/54. Class 135. [Also in Group XXXIV] In a lubricating system, unit quantities of lubricant are dispensed by a device comprising an air chamber 11, similar to an accumulator, and a sliding valve assembly which controls the flow of lubricant into and out of chamber 11. The valve assembly comprises a body 5 of polygonal cross-section carrying at the front end a cup-shaped valve 9 of plastic material and, at the rear end, it is formed as a single beat lift valve 6 co-operating with a washer 4 of plastic material. When the lubricant pump forces a charge through the port f, the valve assembly is moved to the right to close off the outgoing line f<SP>11</SP>, and the incoming fluid passes by the edge of valve 9 into the accumulator chamber 11. When the lubricant supply pressure falls, the pressure in chamber 11 forces the valve assembly to the left so that valve 9 closes off the inlet passage and valve 6 opens the out-going passage. The charge in chamber 11 then flows to the out-going line.
