Abstract

798,356. Tensioning bands. TELEFONAKTIEBOLAGET L. M. ERICSSON. Jan. 9, 1957 [Jan. 12, 1956], No. 915/57. Class 45. [Also in Group XV] A device for joining the ends of a metal band 7 and stretching it around an object 8 comprises a member of permanently deformable material having first and second portions 1, 2 spaced by a third portion formed with one or more corrugations 3, 13, the ends of the band being overlaid and passing between the corrugation and the object and connected respectively to portions 1 and 2, so that by flattening the corrugation the portions 1 and 2 are displaced and cause the band to grip the object tightly. In operation the end of the band is passed through slots 10, 5, 4 and bent around portion 1, the band is cut, the free end is passed through slots 4, 5, 10 and a little around the free edge of flange 9, the length of the band is adjusted, the end is fixed by bending it around the edge of flange 9, the latter is bent down flat, and finally the band is stretched, as in Fig. 6, by flattening the corrugation. Fig. 4 shows a device with two corrugatins 3, 13, additional slots 12, 14, and a flat intermediate portion 11. A flange, such as 9, may be provided on both end portions 1, 2.
