798,303. Edging for carpets. BRIGHT, T. J. R. May 18, 1956 [Feb. 18, 1955], No. 4948/55. Class 142(4) [Also in Group X] A beading or moulding for application to the edge of a vehicle or household carpet, comprises a channel-shaped continuous clip 1 capable of universal bending movement and having along one edge an inturned lip 2 and carrying an ornamental fabric covering 3 the longitudinal edges of which are turned over the edges of the clip and secured thereto. The clip 1, which is provided with staggered slots 7 extending inwardly from opposite edges, has inwardly directed tangs 8 which pierce the covering 3 and are then turned over to secure the fabric in position. In a modification the covering 3 is stitched to the clip 1, the pressed-out tangs 8 being replaced by sewing holes. In use the lip 2 engages projections on a flange or other supporting member or engages clips which frictionally grip the flange or carpet edge. Both longitudinal edges of the clip may have an inturned lip. Specifications 649,137, 705,634, 779,866 and 779,868 [all in Group X] are referred to.
