Abstract

838,054. Draught excluders; mouldings. BRIGHT, T. J. R. Oct. 26, 1956 [Sept. 16, 1955; Oct. 13, 1955], Nos. 26653/55 and 29215/55. Classes 20(3) and 20(4) [Also in Group XXV] A continuous clip, Fig. 2, or tag Fig. 18, for straddling a supporting flange has two parallel limbs out of which tangs 3 are bent for frictionally engaging the flange, each tang 3 lying in a plane at right angles to a plane containing its limb. A continuous clip is formed with a series of spaced, staggered slots 2 so that it may be. bent around curves of small radius. In forming a draught excluder, Fig. 4, a rubber strip 5 having an effective portion 6 is stitched to a covering material 7 and the ends of the strip 5 and material 7 bent upwardly to be held by the tangs 3 of a continuous clip or a series of spaced tags. In a modification the effective portion 6 is tubular. In a further form, the use as a window seal, a sponge rubber core is placed adjacent one limb of the clip and is covered by a textile material having a glass engaging pile surface, the ends of the material being held by the tangs 3 and a series of pressed-out tongues respectively. In the case of an ornamental beading or moulding a textile covering has both ends bent around the limbs of the clip and held by the tangs 3. The clip may have the tangs 3, Fig. 12, inclined to its longitudinal axis. The tangs may be straight topped, Fig. 2, of barb form, Fig. 4, formed with cut-out portions, or of trapezoidal shape.
