Abstract
797,632. Cigarette-making machines. KÍRBER, K. June 11, 1956, No. 17933/56. Addition to 767,275. Class 130. The grooves 4a of a rotaty drum 4 are separated by wide fins 4b which serve as stops against which the end of a multi-length filter rod abuts whilst the rod is cut into doublelength mouthpiece sections F1, each cut-off section being subsequently pushed into a groove 4a and conveyed by the drum to apparatus for 'uniting it to a pair of cigarettes as described in the parent Specification. The rods F, each being of three times the length of the double-length sections F1, are fed through cutting tubes S1, S2 between which operates a knife 10. Each rod first contacts a fin 4b whilst the first section F1 is cut off, the severed section moving into a groove 4a on rotation of the drum so that the rod F moves forward until its end again contacts a fin 4b when the second section F1 is cut off and moved into the next groove 4a. The next fin 4c is narrow to permit the remaining section F1, which doe not need cutting, to move directly into the succeeding groove 4a. The process is the repeated with the next rod F.
