797,589. Ornamenting. WEIL, K. U. Nov. 25, 1954 [Nov. 27, 1953], No. 34189/54 Class 93 Multi-coloured artistic designs are produced by impregnating various coloured individual fibre strands 16, 18 with a stiffening agent, such as a viscous adhesive, and arranging or shaping the impregnated strands on a backing 10 to form the design while the strands are stiff but pliable, so that they are fixed permanently in position on solidification of the stiffening agent. The preferred fibre material is cotton, but wool, flax, rayon, linen, silk or the like may be used, in yarn, thread string or cord sizes The preferred stiffening agents are cornstarch based adhesives, but animal, vegetable and mineral glues may be used. The stiffening agent is preferably applied to the strands, and the latter to the backing, by means of the finges. The finished design may be coated with e.g. shellac or clear varnish.
