Abstract

797,495. Conveyer belting. GOODYEAR TIRE & RUBBER CO. Jan. 22, 1957 [Sept. 24, 1956], No. 2256/57. Class 78 (1). The load-engaging surface of a conveyer belt 1 is formed of sets of projecting ribs 3 crossing each other at acute-obtuse angles to form diamond-shaped depressions 2 with their major axes extending generally transversely of the belt, longitudinally extending slits 12 being provided in the ribs adjacent the intersections to divide the ribs into flexible segments to engage the conveyed material. The slits are preferably of the same depth as the ribs. The ribs are preferably of stepped cross-section, as shown, but may alternatively be of flat-topped or full triangular form. The belt includes a reinforcement 5 of woven or cord fabric.
