Abstract
The invention comprises 5-(11 : 21-dithiacyclopentyl - 31) - pentanoamide, (lipoamide) of the formula <FORM:0796563/IV (b)/1> and its preparation by treating lipoyl chloride, obtained for example by the action of oxalyl chloride on an alkali-metal lipoate, with ammonia under anhydrous conditions suitably in an inert organic liquid such as dioxane. In an example, sodium lipoate is treated with oxalyl chloride and the resulting lipoyl chloride is treated with ammonia in dioxane to give lipoamide.
