Abstract

796,538. Furnace linings. LACLEDECHRISTY CO. Sept. 7, 1956 [Sept. 23, 1955], No. 27442/56. Classes 1 (1) and 51 (2). A refractory wall lining is secured to the outer wall by an anchor member fixed to the outer wall and a supporting member mounted on the hook-like anchor member with a downwardlyextending forked part in slidable abutment with the anchor member. A hook-shaped anchor 12 is welded to the steel casing 16 of a furnace and a cantilever extension 14 has a hole receiving the upturned end of the hook 12 and a slotted downturned flange 18 which fits over the shank of the hook 12. The free end of the extension 14 may be split and splayed before it is embedded in the refractory lining 26, or it may be in the form of an elongated hook, Fig. 9, passing through an intermediate insulating layer 70 and supporting a precast refractory anchor block 68 and the cast refractory facing 72. In a second modification, Fig. 6, a straight, flat cantilever part 14 extends through an insulating layer 42 and supports the honeycomb metal reinforcement 48 of the refractory facing 44.
