795,594. Draught excluding strips. ETABLISSEMENTS DEPLIREX. June 19, 1956 [June 23, 1955], No. 18916/56. Class 20(3) Weather proofing means for a telescopic expansible unit, e.g. of a vehicle body of the kind having a fixed central body portion A and telescopic side portions such as B, C, incorporates a resilient packing strip a having inwardly and outwardly directed lips 29, 30 respectively, and another resilient packing strip c having a single inwardly directed lip 43. As shown in Figs. 4, 5. the strips a, c are secured, by metal holders 27, 39 respectively inside the outer edges of the sides and roofs of the portion A and the associated movable portions B, or B<SP>1</SP>. When the portions such as B, C are expanded, Fig. 5, plates 37, 44 attached respectively to the inside edges of their sides and roofs sealingly engage the lips 37, 43, on the strips a and c. When the portions such as B, C are retracted within the body portion A, Fig. 4, a lip 34 on a sheet 35, which is reinforced by brackets 52, and is fastened to the outside 36 of each portion C, makes sealing contact with the corresponding lip 30 on the strip a, rain from the roof 33 of the portion A being carried away by a drain 32. Rain seeping between the lips 30, and 34 is collected by a gutter 38 mounted on the plate 35 beneath the lip 34. Drain holes 46 are provided in the sloping roofs of each portion.
