795,506. Milling. BLACKBURN & GENERAL AIRCRAFT, Ltd., BANCROFT, T., WALKER, S., and AKEROYD, W. A. Oct. 30, 1956, No. 33098/56. Class 83 (3). A feed-device for a milling &c. machine comprises a power-operated linearly-moving means (such as a solenoid 11), adjustably connected to a spring-loaded pawl plate 7 carrying at least one pawl 8 engaging a toothed-wheel 6 fast with a feed-screw 2, such that each stroke of the power-operated device rocks the plate by a preset degree. The solenoid is operated by a switch actuated by movement of the tool-slide to feed a work-table. The solenoid carries a slotted extension 12 carrying a block 16 adjustable against a scale 19 to vary the movement imparted to the plate 7 which carries a pin 13 engaging the block 16. The pawl 8 carries a second pawl 8a displaced by one half-tooth, to permit finer adjustments of feed to be made.
