Abstract
795,147. Pelmets. SOUTHERN, D. C. Feb. 20, 1956 [Feb. 25, 1955], No. 5675/55. Class 52(5) A pelmet kit comprises end members 10, connecting members 13, junction members 12 and corner member 11, brackets 10d, 11d, 12d of deformable metal being fitted to the end, junctions and corner members so that by suitably bending the metal the connecting member 13 may be attached to the other members. The kit also includes valance brackets 16 by which the pelmet may be removably attached to a window frame. The brackets 10d e.g., are preferably of a soft aluminium alloy and are supplied as shown in Fig. 2, so that to attach the end member 10 to the connecting member it is necessary only to bend the lower end of the bracket 10d above the lower edge of the connecting member 13. The corner members (Fig. 5) comprise two strips of stiff material 11 strengthened at their adjacent ends by battens 11c and having deformable brackets 11d similar to those on the end member 10. Each strip 11 has a piece of deformable metal 11a attached and engaging a slot 11b in the opposing batten 11c. The strips 11 are set at the required angle and the metal then emerging beyond the battens is bent around them to hold the strips 11 together. The various members are made of stiff material such as wood, hardboard or paperboard.
