Abstract
794,899. Wrapping-machines. BRITISH CELANESE, Ltd. July 13, 1956 [July 15, 1955], No. 20522/55. Class 94(1). Apparatus for wrapping a film round an object such as a carton of fruit, comprises a fixed table 11 upon which the object is placed while a length of film 13 is cut by a knife 16 and placed centrally over the object so that portions 26, 28 may, when the object is removed, depend below its sides, and a movable table 17 along which the object and film are moved to wrap the portion 26 beneath the object. The table 17 carries an adjustable stop 20 against which the object is placed and a solvent or adhesive applying wick 22 which engages the portion 28. The table 17 is moved towards the table 11, when the portion 28 is pressed between the wick 22 and a fixed member 23. The object is then moved to the right as shown onto and across the table 11 when the portion 28 is folded beneath the object and in overlapping relation to the portion 26. A gauge 25 assists visual determination of the length of film required. The object is thus wrapped in an open tube the ends of which project beyond it and are foldable onto its end surfaces by means as described in Specification 794,900.
