794,592. Batteries. SVENSKA ACKUMULATOR AKTIEBOLAGET JUNGNER. Aug. 16, 1955 [Aug. 17, 1954], No. 23632/55. Drawings to Specification. Class 53. The alkaline accumulator described in Specification 683,650 has separators of either a finepored insulating material or a semi-permeable insulating material. The term " fine-pored material " is defined in the Specification as a material having interstices too small to pass suspended iron particles. Each separator may be a dense tissue, or a thin slab of felted fibres, of, e.g., nylon or polyvinyl chloride, or may be a semi-permeable slab of rubber or regenerated cellulose. The separators may form envelopes for the electrodes. The positive sintered electrode is nickel, which may be wholly or partly replaced by iron and/or copper coated with nickel, or silver, which may be wholly or partly replaced by other metals or carbon or graphite coated with silver. The negative electrode contains one or more of the metals iron, cadmium and zinc or oxides of these. Mercury and/or cobalt may be incorporated in the electrodes and lithium may be added to the electrolyte. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 683,650.
