Abstract

793,848. Tool - holders; milling cutters. O.K. TOOL CO., Inc. May 7, 1956 [June 10, 1955], No. 14047/56. Class 83 (3). A tool-holding device has a cylindrical opening 2, Fig. 3, extending therethrough, the rear end 5 being threaded to take an adjustable stop-plug 6. A split-sleeve 8 slides into the opening from the front end and seats against the stop-plug. The sleeve has a tapered bore, into which a tool 10, with the same taper, fits. The tool has a threaded bore extending along its axis from the rear end, in which a clamping- screw 15 engages. One clamping-screw rotates without relative axial movement in the stopplug 6. The wall of the opening 2 and the tool are provided with corresponding grooves into which a key 14 fits, the key passing through a slot 11 in the sleeve and preventing relative rotation of the parts. The holder may comprise a cylindrical body 1, Fig. 1, adapted to rotate about its axis and provided with a number of cylindrical openings 2 which extend obliquely through the body between its front and rear faces 3, 4.
