793,081. Milling-cutters. GREENLEAF, W. J. April 12, 1956, No. 11136/56. Class 83(3). A milling-cutter comprises a bit 3 of polygonal cross-section with its longitudinal-axis inclined to provide cutting-clearance, the bit having endfaces 4, 5 normal to its axis to provide cutting and seating faces, clamping-means 16 engaging the cutting-face to clamp the bit with its seating-face against a face 6 machined in the body, and diverging side-seats 11, 25 to locate the bit. The clamp 16 has an eccentric head on a threaded shank. The bit is adjusted by a plane-ended screw 13. The body of the cutter which carries several bits is formed of two rings 8, 10, which have chip-clearance grooves 21, 22.
