Abstract

792,937. Induction motors. BARMER MASCHINENFABRIK AKT.-GES. April 20, 1956 [April 20, 1955], No. 12199/56. Addition to 770,710. Class 35. Relates to a modification of the winding arrangement set forth in the parent Specification wherein an induction motor 2 has a rotor 76 made of electrically-conductive material and moving between a stator field winding 31 and a laminated iron core 77 which, as shown, is fixed to the stator and serves as a return path for the magnetic flux. The rotor is axially displaceable with or on its driving shaft 33 and may be adjusted in accordance with variations of the tension of the material being wound, so that the speed of the motor is controlled in dependence upon such variations without alteration of the terminal voltage of the field winding. Thus, a lever 7, positioned in accordance with the thread tension, transmits longitudinal movement to the rotor by means of a cam. In another arrangement, the member 77 is axially adjustable instead of the rotor, Fig. 2 (not shown), or both the members 76, 77 may be adjustable to provide fine and coarse regulation. In a further embodiment, the field winding is longitudinally displaceable. The electrical conductivity of the rotor may vary along its length due to variations in its shape or to the nature of the materials of which the rotor body is made. The rotor body may have perforations of different sizes along its axis, Figs. 3, 4 (not shown).
