Abstract

[Also in Group XXXVII] A hand-lever 1 is adapted to move a roller contact 2 over a potentiometer 3 by means of which a reference voltage is selected for determining the speed of a winder motor. The lever moves in a slot 4 and, in the " off " position, is at the centre of cross-path 7. The direction of motor-operation is selected by movement of the lever from the central position into either the path 5 or path 6. The motor speed is increased when the lever is moved along either of the parallel paths 5, 6 away from the cross-path 7, whilst lever-movement in the opposite directions decreases the speed of the motor. A pair of projections 10, 11, on the hand-lever are adapted for selective engagement with recesses in gear segments 13 or 15 which have a common gear-wheel 16, so that rotation of the lever about the pivot 9 enables shaft 17 to drive an arm 18 which carries the roller contact 2. The potentiometer segments 8 are arranged on the periphery of a drum.
