Abstract
792,213. Gas cleaning apparatus. KLOCKNER-HUMBOLDT-DEUTZ AKT.-GES. April 18, 1956 [April 23, 1955], No. 11785/56. Class 8(2). In apparatus for separating dust from hot gas comprising a plurality of metal wires 4, Fig. 1 spaced laterally across the entire cross-sectional area, of a horizontal channel 1 and located in longitudinally spaced planes 5 between a dust-laden gas inlet 2 and a clean gas outlet 3, the wires 4 are vibrated or beaten and the dust so removed is collected in a hopper 7 having a discharge worm conveyer 11 and transverse baffles 14 serving to prevent the incoming gas from by-passing the wires 4. Each set of wires is held in a frame 6 which has channels 17 forming with ridges 16 projecting inwardly from the channel 1 a labyrinth seal, and the frames 6 are connected together by rods 38 and spacing tubes 19 and also by bars 20, Fig. 2, from which extend vertical rods 21. The rods 21 carry discs 22 at their upper ends which form couplings with a plate 24 supported by springs 25 on the channel cover; the plate 24 being vibrated by a electromagnetic vibrator 27. In a modification the vibrator comprises a slotted weight reciprocated by a rotating pin. In a further modification the apparatus is in series with a final cyclone separator.
