Abstract
791,845. Gas sampling devices. ATOMIC ENERGY OF CANADA, Ltd. April 27, 1956 [June 17, 1955], No. 13049/56. Class 97(3) The device is adapted to sample gases at a high rate of flow of at least 400 litres per minute and comprises a cylindrical tube 10 for conversion to a source of suction and surrounded by a member 11 so as to define therebetween an annular passage which tapers over most of its length. Adjacent the narrow end of this passage a sampling tray 18 may be secured to the member 11 by screws 19, so as to enclose a radial passage 20 communicating with the annular passage. In use, the tray 18 is coated with sticky material and the gas is drawn through the annular passage so that any particles in the gas are deposited on tray 18 and can subsequently be investigated as by a suitable scintillation counter, a chemical examination or a microscope.
