Class 100(1) [Also in Group XIX] In apparatus for delivering record cards in a statistical or other machine, a card which is being moved leading edge first and face uppermost, can be reversed so that it is moved opposite edge first and reverse side uppermost. Normally, the cards C pass between feed rollers 1, 2 and 3, 4, and are guided by elements 6 into a receiver 7, face uppermost and leading edge 16 first (Fig. 5). On the receipt of a signal a deflector plate 8 is pivoted downwardly to the position shown in full lines, Fig. 4, and the leading edge of a card is deflected upwardy between feed rollers 18, 20 which feed the card on to a fixed plate between a roller 23 and a spaced drop roller 24. When the roller 24 is actuated by a cam and lever means to approach the feed roller 23, the card is fed downwardly between feed rollers 18, 34, over a guide element 36, and into the receiver 7; thus this card is delivered opposite edge 17 first and reverse side uppermost. Since all the cards C are cut away at one corner, the corner 37 of the reversed card will protrude beyond the stacked cut-away edges 38, Fig. 5, of the other cards, and is readily seen. The deflector plate 8 could be operated by a Bowden cable means; but as described, it is operated by a solenoid which is de-energized when the circuit is broken as the result of an impulse from the statistical machine, to allow a spring to swing the plate into card-diverting position. During the downward movement of the card, the opposite edge 17 is engaged by the teeth of toothed wheels 33 secured on the shaft 19 to ensure that the card is fed between rollers 18, 34.
