Abstract

791,571. Cutter-bars. NORRIS, O. M. May 26, 1956, No. 16360/56. Class 83 (3). A counterboring tool comprises a tapered and bifurcated part 12 operated to grip the cutter 17 and also a bifurcated pilot arbor 18, by a tapered collar 14, the arbor having a flange 18a at or adjacent its end for locating thereon an interchangeable sleeve 22 to fit the hole being counterbored. The tool is assembled by positioning the sleeve 22 before introducing the cutter into the slot 19 in the arbor beneath a rivet 20. The arbor is then inserted into a bore 21 in the bifurcated part 12, with shoulders 17a on the cutter sliding in the slot 13 in the part 12 and bearing on the sleeve 14 which is caused to grip the parts by striking the end of the arbor with a hammer. Slots 22a in the sleeve 22 engage the cutter.
