Abstract

244,333. Redfern, C. G., (Foster, G. H.). May 4, 1925. Drills and cutters. - A tool for drilling holes having a larger diameter at their inner ends comprises a stationary casing 2 having a number of projections 19 for engaging the work and knurled for holding by hand, in which are two ball-bearings 4, 5 for supporting a spindle 6 having a tapered end for insertion in a drilling- machine spindle. A slot 8 in the spindle 6 contains a lever 11 pivoted at 10 and provided with a projection 12 which coacts with the bearing 5 to oscillate the tool 14 attached to it and enlarge the inner end of the hole being drilled. The tool-holder 13 attached to the lever 11 has teeth 15 which act as a countersink. The spindle 6 is fed down. wards against the pressure of a spring 18 abutting on the bearing 5 and fibre washers 17 on a collar 16 attached to the spindle.
