Class 75(4) [Also in Group XX] Apparatus for rendering visible defects on a specimen of solid transparent material A consists of an elongated fluorescent light source B, saddles E with V-shaped grooves for locating the specimen between the lamp B and the viewer at X, screening means for substantially preventing - within a limited viewing angle - the source B and reflexions of the source and bright objects from the surface of the specimen A from being visible to the viewer X and a dark background screen H against which the defects may be viewed.
