Abstract

PURPOSE:To perform a precise analysis of various characteristics of a color cathode- ray tube by detecting the absolute value of a difference between the central position on an effective area of a panel determined by a panel pad and the central position of a fluorescent screen determined by a reference dot. CONSTITUTION:A bulb of a color cathode-ray tube is supported by a bulb support 33 provided on a bottom portion 32 of an inspecting device 31 and positioned by a panel pad retainer 34. When an ideal reference dot, namely, the central position on a fluorescent screen determined by the reference dot coincides with the central position on an effective area of a panel determined by the panel pad retainer 34 and a panel pad, the positions of four microscopes 38 are aligned with the zero points of their corresponding dial gauges 39, 40. Rasta is drawn on the entire panel surface of the color cathode-ray tube and the reference dot is not in alignment with eye position, sliders 41, 42 are moved, and scales of the dial gauges 39, 40 are read when the reference dot is brought into alignment with the eye position.
