In an hydraulic servo-brake mechanism of the kind wherein a valve e is closed on a seat on plunger member d so as to throttle the liquid being discharged back into a reservoir a by a pump b thus producing an hydraulic pressure which acts through a connection r on the vehicle brakes, the crank arm g through which a pedal arm f acts to close the valve e is arranged, if due to loss of fluid in the hydraulic system it moves through a substantial angle, to strike by means of lug n a crank arm o connected by a sleeve p with an emergency brake lever q whereby the brakes are operated mechanically. To provide a softer feel a spring mechanism h is interposed between a pin pivotal on the end of arm g and the valve e. A stop t limits the out-of-service movement of the brake lever g.
