789,043. Clocks and watches. KINOSHITA & CO., Ltd. Feb. 7, 1956, No. 3720/56. Class 139 The mainspring 3, Fig. 3. is attached to the arbor 1 and to the inner barrel. 4. An outer barrel 7 surrounds the barrel 4 and is connected thereto by a spring slip coupling comprising spring strips 8 each fixed at one end to the barrel 7 and provided at the other end with a projection 9 -which normally engages a notch 6 on the outer surface of the barrel 4. The tension of each spring 8 is adjustable by a screw 10. A pivoted lever 12 carries at one end a contact 15 and at the other has a projection 13 which rides the outer surface of the barrel 7. Normally the mainspring 3 drives the barrels 4 and 7 clockwise the latter being connected to the gear train. When the projection 13 of the lever 12 enters. one of a series of notches 11 in the barrel 7 the contact 15 meets the contact 17 and an electric motor 19 rotates the arbor 1 to wind the mainspring. The mainspring is actually over wound whereupon the coupling between the barrels 4 and 7 slips until the mainspring unwinds to am extent sufficient to cause re-engagement of the coupling. This cycle continuously repeats. Closure of a switch 21 provided in the motor circuit effects the initial winding of the mainspring.
