Abstract

788,905. Soothing teats. TANNENBAUM, M., and SOLTESZ, P. April 12, 1955 [July 26, 1954; Feb. 2, 1955], No. 10413/55. Class 81 (2). An infant pacifier comprises a hollow elastic sucking member having at least one delivery opening and a reservoir communicating with the sucking member by way of a narrow canal in a constriction which is surrounded by a disc for determining the depth to which the sucking member will penetrate into an infant's mouth. A teat 1 having delivery openings 5 is integral with a reservoir 2 which is attached to a supporting member 9 having a canal 11 for the introduction of liquid into the reservoir 2 and teat 1. A closure member 12 is provided for the canal 11. A carrying ring 10 is secured to the supporting member 9 or to the closure member 12 and a disc 6 is provided on the teat 1. The teat 1 may be connected to the reservoir 2 by a bored connecting piece. The teat 1, Fig. 5, may be screwed on to the supporting member 9 which is provided with a filling canal 17 closed by a member 12 constituting the reservoir 2. The reservoir 2 may be formed by the carrying ring 10, Fig. 6, which is connected by screw threads to the closuremember 12. The reservoir 2 may be bellshaped and provided with a flat bottom 24, Fig. 7, to which the teat 1 is attached. The flat bottom replaces the disc 6 of the other constructions. The closure member 12 may be secured by internal or external screw threads or a bayonet connection or may be in the form of a resilient plug. The teat 1 is made of natural or synthetic rubber or microporous material.
