Abstract
788,875. Screw-and-nut gearing. PHILIPS ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES, Ltd. Aug. 19, 1955 [Aug. 23, 1954], No. 23973/55. Class 80 (3). A speed reduction from a shaft 3 to a shaft 5 is obtained by a split nut member 7, 8 which engages a relatively fine thread on shaft 3 and a relatively coarse thread on shaft 5. The nut is moved linearly by rotation of shaft 3 and thereby imparts a smaller amount of rotation to shaft 5. The nut 7, 8 is preferably spring- loaded to reduce backlash. The device is particularly applicable to the actuation of tuning elements in wireless apparatus..
