Abstract

Moulding material is made by mixing a foamable polyesterurethane resin with a fibrous or powdered filler in such proportions as to form a dough which is capable of being handled and placed manually in a mould before any appreciable curing or during curing of the resin. The polyesterurethane is made by reacting a polyisocyanate (e.g. m-toluylene diisocyanate) with a polyester resin derived from a polyhydric alcohol (e.g. glycerol) and a mixture of succinic and sebacic acids (with or without phthalic acid). Specified fillers are kaolin, zinc oxide, mixtures thereof, and precipitated chalk. Immediately after mixing the resin and filler, the resulting dough may be cooled either externally or by adding solid carbon dioxide. The cooled material may be ground into powdered form.
