Abstract
787,012. Gas turbine jet propulsion plant. POWER JETS (RESEARCH & DEVELOPMENT), Ltd. March 19, 1954 [April 8, 1953; April 8, 1953; July 14, 1953; Sept. 7, 1953, Nos. 9515/53, 9516/53, 19477/53 and 24722/53. Class 110 (3). [Also in Group XXXIII] A gas turbine engine 7, Fig. 3, exhausts into a fish-tail nozzle 8. The engine is carried by a cradle 31 slidable on rails 21 and normally held in position by pins 24. A flexible sealing flange 23 surrounding the air intake abuts a wing spar 5 and engages the spar tightly due to the suction when the engine is operating. An adjustable flap 29 is pivoted at the nozzle outlet to deflect the jet stream. Air tapped from the compressor may issue from another nozzle as a layer between the jet and flap, Fig. 7 (not shown).
