Abstract
Compounds of the formula: (CN)2C = CH-(CH = CH)n-NHC6H5 wherein n is 0, 1 or 2 are prepared by condensing malonic dinitrile with diphenylformamidine, g - anilino - acralaniline or glutaconic aldehyde dianil preferably in methanol. The g -anilinoacralaniline may be used in the form of its hydrochloride in the presence of triethylamine. Specification 786,169, [Group IV (c)], is referred to.ALSO:Dyes of the general formula: <FORM:0786168/IV (b)/1> wherein m is 0 or 1, R is an alkyl or allyl group and X completes a heterocyclic nucleus are prepared by condensing a quaternary salt of a nitrogen ring compound having a reactive a or g methyl group with diphenylformamidine and treating the product with malonic dinitrile. X may complete a pyridine, quinoline, benzoxazole, thiazole, thiazoline, benzthiazole, benzselenazole, indolenine, imidazole or benzimidazole ring. Specification 786,169 is referred to.
