Abstract

786,049. Electric digital-data-storage apparatus. DIRKS, G. June 23, 1950 [Oct. 1, 1948], No. 37231/54. Divided out of 786,021. Drawings to Specification. Class 106 (1). Digital data-storage apparatus comprises a rotatable member with a magnetizable surface bearing a plurality of signal storage locations, a sensing head, a recording head, amplifying and gating means interconnecting the heads, and means synchronized with the rotation of the storage member for controlling the gating means to pass signals selectively from the sensing head to the recording head so as to transfer signals from one storage location to another. As described, apparatus comprising a magnetizable disc and a plurality of reading and recording heads interconnected via amplifiers and switching or gating circuits, is provided. The disc is divided into sectors allocated to the various denominations of numbers to be processed, and each digit is represented by a signal at a unique position within a sector. The process of calculation by transferring signals from a reading head to selected recording heads is described in Specification 786,021.
