Abstract
<PICT:0785475/III/1> <PICT:0785475/III/2> Metal objects are cleaned by immersing them in a cleansing fluid and subjecting them to both supersonic vibrations and a vacuum, the objects being maintained in motion during treatment. As shown, a container 1a (Fig. 1) is filled with cleaning liquid, e.g. trichlorethylene and has a sound head 2a in the bottom thereof. The object to be cleaned is placed in sieve 4a and liquid is circulated by a pump 14 and cleaned by filter 15. Vacuum conditions are established by a vacuum pump 9. In Fig. 2, the container 18 has baskets 22 therein on a conveyer, each of which dips into baths 23 in turn. Sound heads 24 are fitted and vacuum conditions are set up in the baths, when the closure 28 is in position, through openings 25. The cleaning liquid is circulated as in Fig. 1.
