Abstract
784,966. Transfers. CROMTRYCK AKTIEBOLAGET. Oct. 27, 1955 [Dec. 11, 1954], No. 30809/55. Class 100(2) A process for the application of a peel of delcalcomania having a backing and a smooth non-tacky image layer united by a water-soluble layer, comprises soaking the decalcomania in water, applying the decalcomania face downwards without heat and pressure to the surface of an object to be decorated, removing the backing, allowing the transferred layer to dry, and subjecting the object and transferred layer to temperature of 80‹-200‹C., whereby a constituent of the image-layer softens and forms an adhesive. The image-layer may consist of a binder, a pigment, and if desired, a filler. Chrome yellow, tatanium dioxide or organic pigments can be used. The binder may be composed of alkyd resins, fatty drying oils, cellulose derivatives and resins, e.g. nitrocellulose, ethylcellulose, and acrylic and methacrylic esters, either alone or in combinaion. After soaking, the decalcomania is pressed into contact image layer downwards, with the object, the backing layer is then peeled off the image-layer which is left to dry. The object is then heated to between 80‹- 200‹C. to effect adhesion between. the object and image-layer. A coat of clear varnish may be applied to the .image-layer before heating.
