Abstract

Phosphoric acid, which may be used for the production of phosphates such as dicalcium phosphate, tricalcium phosphate, hydroxyapotite and alkali metal tripolyphosphates is defluorinated by bringing the acid to a concentration range of 45-55 per cent P2O5 by boiling the acid, preferably under reduced pressure. The acid may be diluted before or after the concentration step.
