783.220. Anchor-nuts. STRAIN, W. E., and STEWARD, J. H. Aug. 12, 1955, No. 23331/55. Class 89(i) [Also in Group XXII] A nut 10, Fig. 1, is secured to a panel 22 to form a fluid-tight joint therewith, by using the nut to punch a hole in the panel in co-operation with a die 26, Fig. 4, so that flanges 12 abut the lower face of the panel, and then swaging the panel with the die 26 into grooves 13 in the nut- In another arrangement, the panel 22a, Fig. 5, is embossed by the die 26a which also swages the panel into the grooves, whereby the upper surface of the nut is flush with the upper surface of the panel.
