Abstract

A paint applicator comprises a roller 1 rotatably mounted on an axle 2 having a handle 3, the roller 1 having holes 1a and an absorbent covering 5, e.g. of foam plastic material, and being provided internally with a manually displaceable tube 6 perforated at 6a to control the <PICT:0783095/III/1> flow of paint from the roller 1, which acts as a paint reservoir, through the holes 1a to the covering 5 in the manner of a sleeve valve. The tube 6, which normally rotates with the roller 1, has at one end 7 a boss 8 carrying a lever 13 which is movable in an arcuate slot 12 in a collar 11 fixed to the roller 1. The spindle 2 is integral with and of greater diameter than the handle 3 to form a shoulder which abuts a washer 14. The spindle 2 is enclosed in a tube 9 plugged at 18 and supported in a boss 17 on a removable cap 16. According to the Provisional Specification, the collar 11 and boss 17 are each integral with separate plates which abut the end of the roller 1 and of the tube 6 respectively, and the covering may be a tufted or woven fabric.
