Abstract

782,896. Weighing apparatus. AVERY, Ltd., W. & T. Oct. 6, 1955 [July 6, 1954], No. 10004/54. Class 143 Apparatus for measuring the total weight of material passing along a conveyer, comprises a device for generating electrical pulses at a frequency proportional to the speed of the conveyer, and means for intermittently feeding these e pulses to an electronic counter for periods of time each of which is proportional to the weight of material on the conveyer. A disc 6, driven through chain and sprocket gearing 1, 2, 4, 5 from the conveyer drive mechanism (not shown) is provided with teeth 6a which co-operate with a magnetic pick-up 7 to produce the pulses. The weighed section of the conveyer is connected through a link 14 to an arm 13 which is fulcrumed about an axis 15 and is supported by a counterbalancing spring 16. A second disc 10 rotated about axis 15 by gearing (not shown) driven by the sprocket 5, is provided with vanes 10a which co-operate with a stationary magnetic pick up 11, and another magnetic pick-up 12 carried by arm 13, these pickups respectively controlling means for closing and opening the circuit between the pulse generator and the electronic, counter.
